Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,

The United Nations Association in Canada is proud to invite you to Canada’s first bilingual international Model United Nations conference for post-secondary level students. The Canadian International Model UN [CANIMUN] Conference will be held from 12-15 March 2003 in Ottawa, Canada.

While a series of unique features and partnerships make CANIMUN an overall distinctive event, the city of Ottawa offers delegates the opportunity to meet with representatives from diplomatic missions, government agencies and non-governmental organizations that can further add to the CANIMUN experience.

It is our hope that through this French and English bilingual conference, delegates will be able to savour Canada’s uniqueness while exploring different world issues at one of CANIMUN’s 18 committees. While our committees promise to be innovative and challenging for all participants, a small number will offer participation opportunities specifically for more seasoned delegates.

CANIMUN will be staffed with avid Model UN enthusiasts from across Canada who will bring cultural and regional uniqueness to this new and innovative international conference. Committee topics will provide delegates with a chance to debate current issues that are part of the United Nations’ immediate and future concerns. Participants at the event are expected to come from all parts of Canada as well as from around the world, making CANIMUN a dynamic and rich forum for discussion and cultural exchange.
