About CANIMUN

CANIMUN 2010

10-13 March 2010, Vancouver, BC

THANK YOU FOR A GREAT EVENT

UNA-Canada is delighted to report that CANIMUN 2010 and Model IJC was applauded as a great success. The success of the three day event held from March 10-13, 2010 was, in many ways, made possible thanks to the passion, preparation and commitment of the delegates. Thank you for your participation!

"Thank you for this wonderful experience, I have learnt more than I hoped for. This experience has given me direction, I know exactly what I want to do - I want to be a part of the solution. I now have a world view, and it has made me excited about my future and the difference I can make. Thank you and continue the good work that you and your organization do." - Delegate, CANIMUN 2010

The 'high-value' reputation that CANIMUN enjoys among international Model UN conferences was underscored by an impressive list of guest speakers and was an important opportunity for young people from across Canada and the United States to gather in Vancouver, BC at a time that coincided with the opening of the Paralympics. In particular we were pleased to welcome the following individuals:

Opening Ceremonies:
- Lyle Knott, Canadian Commissioner, International Joint Commission
- Wilfried Lemke, Special Advisor to the UN Secretary-General on Sport for Development and Peace
- Bill Radford, Director of Internationalization, Simon Fraser University
- Carla Qualtrough, President, Canadian Paralympic Committee

General Assemblies and Model IJC:
- Commissioner Irene Brooks, American Chair and Chief Commissioner of the International Joint Commission
- Kim Jasper, Canadian Museum for Human Rights
- Anita Sharma, North American Coordinator, UN Millennium Campaign
- Yosef Wosk, Simon Fraser University

"What fun weekend! Thanks for the opportunity to be part of the Model UN. A great bunch of young people and thanks for the cupcake. Hope our paths will cross again. All the best, Irene." - Commissioner Irene Brooks, International Joint Commission

Additionally, we would like to thank our generous sponsors and supporters without whom CANIMUN 2010 would not have been possible:

- The Simons Foundation
- International Joint Commission
- National Defence - Security & Defence Forum
- The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade
- The UN Millennium Campaign

A very special thank you as well to all of the volunteer staff who made CANIMUN such a success.

We hope to see many of you at CANIMUN 2011 next March. Visit again for details in coming weeks.
