(17.03.04) Minister Bill Graham to address CANIMUN delegates at DFAIT Briefing!Minister of Foreign Affairs Bill Graham will address a number of CANIMUN delegates during country and regional briefings at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT). Minister Graham's address will include a Question & Answer period and provides a unique opportunity for delegates to gain valuable insight into Canada's evolving role in the world and the United Nations more generally. (17.03.04) CANIMUN announces Paul Heinbecker as Keynote Speaker!A staunch defender of the effectiveness and relevance of the United Nations, Paul Heinbecker is a distinguished diplomat who has served in a number of senior diplomatic posts in Ankara, Stockholm, Paris, Washington, Berlin and more recently in New York as Canadian Permanent Representative to the United Nations. UNA-Canada is honoured to be able to welcome Mr. Heinbecker as Keynote Speaker for CANIMUN 2004.
(17.03.04) CANIMUN announces new partnerships with Francophonie & Exchanges Canada!UNA-Canada is pleased to introduce l'Organisation internationale de la Francophonie and Exchanges Canada, a division of Canadian Heritage, as most recently incorporated partners of CANIMUN 2004. While Francophonie will support the unique bilingual nature of the event, Exchanges Canada is responsible for helping more than 200 registered CANIMUN delegates with travel subsidies towards their participation at this year's event. (06.03.04) Delegate Training available for 2004!CANIMUN is pleased to announce the establishment of a Delegate Training session scheduled to take place prior to Opening Ceremonies on March 10th 2004. The initiative will offer new participants an opportunity to sharpen skills and ask questions on all sorts of Model UN procedural matters (including Rules of Procedure). Space allocated towards this end is limited and therefore we encourage all those interested in attending the session to inform their head delegates right away. Seats will only be allocated to registered delegations via a Head Delegate official request.
(06.03.04) Check out the Country Assignments for 2004!You can check which countries have been assigned at the conference by visiting the 'Registration' section of the site. Delegations are only assigned a country once they have completed the registration process.
(06.03.04) Position Papers DUE!Make sure to submit you position papers as soon as possible! Conference staff members will review these for accuracy and to make sure you're well prepared to properly represent your assignment at CANIMUN 2004. Please consult the 'Preparation' section of the site for more information on this topic.
(20.02.04) CANIMUN Payment due - January 30th, 2004!Head Delegates! Please be advised that in order to keep your registration active, you must have the full amount of your registration fees paid by January 30th, 2004. Remember that the Delegation fees and Partial Delegate fees are non-refundable. Space at CANIMUN 2004 is limited! Keep your Delegation registered! (20.02.04) Background Guides now available online!Delegate background guides are now available in PDF format! Consult the “preparation” section of the website to access the guides. All head delegates have been issued the appropriate username and password; if you are a registered delegation and have not received this information, contact: modelun@unac.org. Please contact your committee Chair or Director for any questions you may have. Good luck in your preparations for CANIMUN! (28.01.04) Finalize your prep work with an Embassy Briefing!UNA-Canada hopes to offer Embassy briefing opportunities for delegates wishing to aid and finalize their preparation process by meeting with official country representatives in Ottawa prior to the start of committee work. The morning of Thursday March 11 has been designated as a time for these briefings to take place. For more information, please visit the 'Embassy Briefings' page under 'Features'.
(16.01.04) Make Hotel reservations in advance!CANIMUN 2004 has posted a list of options for accommodation within close proximity (approx. 5 min. walking distance) of the Government Conference Centre. The list provides delegates with a wide range of alternatives that can fit practically any budget and preference. Please visit the 'Accommodation' section under 'Registration' for more information. Given that CANIMUN 2004 will not be securing hotel rooms for delegates in advance, we urge all delegations to make Hotel reservations promptly. (18.12.03) REGISTRATION started August 20!Registration started on Wednesday August 20! Register quickly to ensure your delegation's space at the conference while enjoying reduced priority registration fees. Spaces are limited! Please note that the receipt of a delegation fee and partial delegate fees is required to validate your registration request.
(21.09.03) Staff Applications: Join the 2004 team!Are you an avid Model UN enthusiast looking for a challenge and a way to share your expertise with CANIMUN delegates? If so, apply to join the staff of CANIMUN 2004! Consult the staff section of the site and complete our online application. Applications are due by 21 September 2003, at midnight EST. (18.08.03) Delegate Registration opens August 18th!Priority registration begins on August 18, 2003 and guarantees priority on committee and country selection. Regular registration starts November 3, 2003. Don’t delay ensuring that your delegation is able to participate at this very exciting event!
