An Invitation

Ottawa, July 11 2003

Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,

The United Nations Association in Canada is very pleased to invite you to the 2004 Canadian International Model United Nations (CANIMUN) Conference.

In March 2003, UNA-Canada successfully organized the first Canadian International Model United Nations [CANIMUN] Conference. The event was held in the city of Ottawa and involved more than 800 participants and volunteer staff members from every province in Canada and more than 15 countries around the world. Given the event's popularity and success, UNA-Canada is currently working towards the realization of CANIMUN 2004, to be held once again in the city of Ottawa from 10-13 March 2004.

By engaging participants in the highest calibre of debate and negotiation, CANIMUN helps advance a delegate's understanding of the intricacies behind global challenges and multilateral cooperation. The 2004 Conference will include a series of unique features including simultaneous interpretation, a bilingual Mock Press, a Head Delegate's Luncheon and an Ambassador's Reception. In addition, on the morning of Thursday March 11, UNA-Canada has introduced Embassy Briefings as an integral conference component that will afford delegates a chance to finalize preparation prior to the start of committee sessions.

It is our hope that through CANIMUN, delegates will continue to be able to savour Canada’s linguistic and cultural uniqueness while exploring different world issues at one of 20 committees set-ups. We also look forward to staffing CANIMUN 2004 with dedicated Model UN enthusiasts from across Canada who will once again bring cultural and regional uniqueness to this reputable and innovative international conference.

CANIMUN assists first-hand in the creation of a generation of concerned and astute global citizens, armed with well-developed critical thinking skills and the ability to approach problems and challenges through a solutions-based methodology.

We strongly encourage you to bookmark our website and to visit it as often as you can for news and updates about the 2004 event.

We look forward to welcoming you to our nation’s capital and remain available to answer any questions you may have.

Regards,
