Council of the Federation (French only)

Topic 1: Funding of the Canadian Health Care System

Topic 2: Renegotiating the Equalization Programme

Arab League*

There is never a dull moment when there is a gathering of Arab League states! This committee will discuss the withdrawal of Syrian troops from the Republic of Lebanon and the disarming of Hizbullah at a time where the international pressure on Syria and Lebanon to comply with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1559 (September 2, 2004) is intensifying.

International Court of Justice

Case 1: The Republic of Iraq vs. The United States of America (The Case Concerning the Use of Force in Mesopotamia)

Case 2: Legal Consequences of the Construction of a Wall in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (Advisory Case)

International Press Forum

The International Press Forum is the official media of CANIMUN 2005. Delegates sitting on this committee will be responsible for producing the daily edition, the special editions as well as the online edition of the CANIMUN Gazette. This committee is dedicated to covering all aspects of the conference, and will play a pivotal and influential role in the decision-making process of the committees.

1993 NAFTA Negotiations*

Expect intense debate for the NAFTA 1993 rounds, since delegates will be representing well known figures in the domestic debates such as Ross Perot and Maude Barlow at the NAFTA negotiating table. Delegates will have to pepare a domestic position from the vocal personalities at their own table, and then defend that position against the negotiating teams from two other countries in the NAFTA 1993 rounds.

1945 San Francisco Roundtable*

Re-live the steps leading to the creation of the best known international organisation in the world, the United Nations. Will this simulation of the San Francisco Rounds of 1945, and the meetings prior to this historical milestone, lead to the creation of the organisation we all know today, or will a very different world emerge? This fast-paced and exciting committee will surely leave everyone guessing until the very end.

1999 US War Room*

1999 North Atlantic Council*

1999 Federal Yugoslavian National Government*

Delegates sitting on any of these committees will go back in time to the spring of 1999. At that time, with the death of over 1,500 Kosovar Albanians and more than 400 000 people displaced due to the direct action of the Serbian military and police, "Operation Allied Force" was approved by NATO. Seventy seven days later, the NATO airstrikes ended with the withdrawal of the Yougoslav Army from Kosovo. Delegates will have to plot a course through intense internal, diplomatic and military matters. The Kosovo Conflict had many significant military, political and economic consequences for all of the regional actors involved, as well as broader implications into the importance of sovereign and human rights. At CANIMUN 2005, will the outcomes be the same?

1982 British Parliament*

1982 Argentinean Military Junta*

coming soon!
