An InvitationOttawa, August 18 2004
Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
The United Nations Association in Canada is delighted to invite you to the 2005 Canadian International Model United Nations (CANIMUN) Conference scheduled to take place from March 9-12, 2005 in Ottawa, Canada. Organized by the United Nations Association in Canada (UNA-Canada), CANIMUN 2005 will continue to build upon the unprecedented success and popularity of CANIMUN 2003 and 2004. Last year, the event brought over 800 participants and volunteers from across Canada and more than 15 countries around the world to the city of Ottawa to debate and discuss some of the world’s most vital international issues.
Returning to CANIMUN 2005 are popular features such as Embassy Briefings, the Head Delegate’s Luncheon and the Ambassador’s Reception. CANIMUN is Canada’s only post-secondary level bilingual (English and French) simulation event which allows delegates to express themselves in the language of their choice while discussing some of the most pressing issues currently on the international agenda. The bilingual component of CANIMUN also adds to the realism of a UN simulation while illustrating to international participants how a country and society can benefit from a multicultural and bilingual environment.
UNA-Canada will once again recruit and hire volunteer staff members from across Canada who will bring regional diversity as well as their Model UN expertise to CANIMUN 2005. Featuring 20 unique and exciting committees which will simulate various international issues in the past, present and future, CANIMUN 2005 will feature topics such as UN Reform, HIV/AIDS, and the Millennium Development Goals. Also returning to this year’s Conference is the International Press Forum, a highly successful addition to CANIMUN 2004. The International Press Forum will be responsible for producing the bilingual conference newspaper – the CANIMUN Gazette.
Please bookmark our website and visit it often for news and updates on CANIMUN 2005 including staff applications, delegate registration and other upcoming special features.
We cannot wait to see you in March and welcome you to our nation’s capital. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about CANIMUN 2005.
Warm Regards,
